School Description
The University of Southern Queensland was established in 1967 as the Queensland Institute of Technology (Darling Downs). It became an autonomous multi-purpose college in 1971, and changed its name to Darling Downs Institute of Advanced Education. It gained university status in 1992, officially becoming the University of Southern Queensland.
The University of Southern Queensland prides itself on being multicultural and diverse. The staff at USQ come from 66 different countries. And 17% of the students enrolled at USQ are international students, who come from 94 different countries. The university has two faculties; Faculty of Business, Education, Law and Arts; and Faculty of Health, Engineering and Sciences. Aside from its main campus in Toowoomba, USQ also has campuses in the cities of Ipswich and Springfield. One of the reasons students are attracted to USQ is its student-focused educational environment. Students at USQ have their personal Student Relationship Officer that help each student during their time at USQ.
