University of Bath
University of Bath was established in 1966 when it received its royal charter; its roots however can be traced back to the Bristol Trade School – a technical school established in 1856. The University of Bath has an international exchange program whereby students from its partner institutions – spread across Europe, Asia, the United States, Canada, Latin America and Australia – are given the opportunity to study in Bath for the duration of one semester or a year. Today the University’s alumni surpasses and hails from over 150 countries around the world.
Some of the University's alumni, who have gone on to achieve great things, include: Dr Jonathan Milner, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Abcam, the leading antibody company in the world, which supplies antibodies to researchers and employs over 800 people; and Justin King who was the CEO of Sainsbury’s and alumnus from the School of Management’s BSc in Business Administration degree. King was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2011 Birthday Honours for services to the retail industry. In January 2014 King announced that he would step down as CEO in July 2014 after a decade of overseeing Sainsbury’s operations.
