School Description

Santa Barbara City College was established in 1909 and is located in the city of Santa Barbara, California, USA. The college was discontinued shortly after World War I, and its work largely took over by the Santa Barbara State Normal School, which became the Santa Barbara State College, and later, the University of California, Santa Barbara. SBCC was reorganized by the high school district in the fall of 1946. Called Santa Barbara Junior College from its inception, the Santa Barbara Board of Education formally changed the name to Santa Barbara City College in July 1959.

Today, over 2000 international students are attracted to Santa Barbara City College by virtue of its outstanding faculty, small classes, state-of-the-art facilities, student support services and incredible location. SBCC is also helping high-school students, many of whom may not be financially or academically prepared, develop long-term educational plans through college readiness and career counselling programs. The college has a wide range of associate degree and certificate programs, as well as transfer programs that provide the first two years of study toward the baccalaureate degree.
