School Description
Western University was founded in 1878 by Bishop Isaac Hellmuth of the Anglican Diocese of Huron. Its original name was The Western University of London Ontario, and remained that way until 1916 when it became the University of Western Ontario. In 1932, the institution introduced the French Immersion Program, which was the first of its kind in Canada. Western began to make a mark on the international scene in 1998 with the opening of North America's first business school campus in Hong Kong.
Western University has a total of 28,864 students that come from 121 different countries. Students at WesternU have a choice of over 180 different clubs for them to be involved in. Some of these clubs include the African Students Association, Caribbean Students Association, Fashion and Lifestyle Society. Harry Potter lovers are even able to join Dumbledore's Army, a club that unites lovers of the famous book and film series.
