The University of Gloucestershire is located across three beautiful campuses in Cheltenham and Gloucester in the south-west of England. The Park campus in Cheltenham is home to the INTO Center. Here, international students can study unique pathway programs and English language courses that lead to over 100 bachelor’s and master’s degree programs at the University of Gloucestershire.

School Description

INTO University of Gloucestershire offers a variety of specialist academic pathway programs. Designed in partnership with the University of Gloucestershire, these programs help to prepare international students for their university degree. Students will develop their subject knowledge while learning study skills and improving their English language level. These programs also help students to adapt to living and studying in a new country, before they go on to join the 10,000 students already studying at the University of Gloucestershire. In 2016-17, 92% of International Foundation students completed their pathway program. 

The INTO Study Center is located on the University’s Park campus, with access to university facilities such as the library and Students’ Union. INTO students will study in recently refurbished buildings, with access to all they need in their first year from classrooms to a support team. There’s an orientation program in the first week to help students to settle in, and an ongoing social program allows students to connect with others through a variety of fun activities.

    Academic English

    GBP 3,555 Tuition Fee

    Academic English is an intensive course, providing the most effective route for students to reach the academic English language level needed to progress to further study. The course offers rapid progress of up to one IELTS band per term.

    The English language entry requirement for this course is a minimum of IELTS 3.0. The fee listed here is for 1 term of Academic English; however, students can study this course for 1–4 terms. Students can begin the course in April 2019, July 2019, September 2019, January 2020, April 2020 or June 2020. There is also a 16-week course starting in August 2019.

    Art, Design and Media - International Foundation

    GBP 13,500 Tuition Fee

    The 3 or 4-term International Foundation in Art, Design, and Media is designed to equip students with the conceptual, technical and practical knowledge of the elements of Design. The program offers courses that focus on the study of visual arts; design techniques; and computer-aided design.

    To apply for this pathway, students need to meet the English language entry requirement of IELTS 4.5 (with a minimum of 4.0 in all subskills) or equivalent for the 3-term course, or IELTS 4.0 (with a minimum of 4.0 in all subskills) or equivalent for the 4-term course. The fee listed here is for the 3-term course and is subject to additional course-related fees.

    Students can also combine their Foundation year and undergraduate degree in a single study plan, requiring only one visa for the duration of the programme. The English language entry requirement for this 4-year course is IELTS 5.5 (with a minimum of 5.5 in all subskills) or equivalent. There is a variant of this course with Pre-sessional English (PSE), available as standard with 20 hours per week of PSE over a period of 10 weeks: IELTS 5.0 (with a minimum of 5.0 in reading and writing) or equivalent; and intensive, with 25 hours per week of PSE over a period of 10 weeks: IELTS 4.5 (with a minimum of 4.5 in all subskills) or equivalent.

    Art, Design and Media - International Year One

    The 3 or 4-term International Year One in Art, Design and Media will prepare students for direct entry to the second year of a bachelor’s degree. Students will learn in interactive and practical classes, learning to apply theory in practice.

    To apply, students need to meet the English language entry requirement of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent for the 3-term course, or IELTS 5.0 or equivalent for the 4-term course. The fee listed here is for the 3-term course and is subject to additional course-related fees.

    Business Administration - Graduate Diploma

    The 3 or 4-term Graduate Diploma in Business Administration gives students an opportunity to gain insight into applying theory from local professionals, while benefitting from the University’s close links with business. The successful completion of this program leads to a range of business-related master's degrees at the University of Gloucestershire.

    The English language entry requirements for this pathway program are: 3 term (IELTS 5.5 or equivalent) or 4 term (IELTS 5.0 or equivalent). The fee listed here is for the 3-term course and is subject to additional course-related fees.

    The International Year One program in Business Management is designed to equip students with the theoretical and practical knowledge of topics related to business; management; finance; economics; marketing; customers operations; communication; information technology; business policy; and strategy.

Students can choose to enroll in the standard 3 - term program or the extended program which has an additional term of English language. The successful completion of this program leads to Year 2 of a bachelor's degree program at the University of Gloucestershire.

    Other information: The program is 2 - 4 terms long. International students are required to have an IELTS score of 4.0 or equivalent to apply. Students can choose to enroll in the standard 3 - term program, the extended program which has an additional term of English language, or the integrated 4 - year program which combines a bachelor's degree with the pathway program. The successful completion of this program leads to Year 1 of a bachelor's degree program at the University of Gloucestershire.

    INTO University of Gloucestershire offers merit-based Regional Scholarships, along with Progression Scholarships for international students completing pathway programs at the INTO Center and progressing on to degree programs at the University.
