Located in Dublin and Cork, Ireland, Dublin International Foundation College (DIFC) offers specialised Foundation Courses and Pre-Masters Programmes preparing international students for entrance into partner universities in Ireland and the UK. The Foundation Courses offered are: Health and Science (Medicine) Foundation Programme; Business and Management Foundation Course; Engineering and Technology Foundation Course; and Sciences Foundation Course. DIFC also offers a Pre-Masters (Graduate Diploma), and two English Language Programmes.

School Description

Dublin International Foundation College (DIFC) was established in 1999 by Diarmuid Moroney, to deliver foundation courses to prepare international students for that will help prepare international students to attend universities in Ireland and the UK. DIFC has helped place more than 1000 students in its partner universities.

DIFC has 2 campuses, in Dublin and Cork. The Dublin campus is just a 15-minute walk from Dublin city centre, and contains eight computer labs as well as a student residence that is home to 600 students. The Cork campus is located just 15-minute walk from St Patrick’s Street, the main shopping street in Cork city centre. DIFC has access to over 40 University Partners across the world including 5 of the Top 100 Universities worldwide and has strong partnerships with 12 Institutions in Ireland and 11 in the United Kingdom. DIFC students are guaranteed a place in one of these institutions upon the completion of their DIFC course.

    The Business & Management Foundation programme provides a progression to undergraduate studies in Business, Accounting, Management, Law and Humanities related degrees.

    Our partner universities recognise that the NCUK IFY course meets their entry requirements for international students. NCUK guarantees students who successfully complete the foundation programme, and obtain the required entry exam grades, a place on a degree course in their chosen subject of study.

    Scholarships are only to students who wish to study at our Cork campus.

    The International Foundation Year – Health Science programme is a specialised university foundation course designed to support international students to progress to study Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing or Pharmacy.

    This DIFC pathway is approved by the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland (RCSI) for entry to its Medical Degree programme (6 year course). In addition there are Medicine progression possibilities to St George’s University London (SGUL), the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), as well as Debrecen University in Hungary, Charles University in the Czech Republic, Lithuanian University of Health Sciences and European University Cyprus.

    Information Management

    The Pre-Masters (Graduate Diploma) is a modular course consisting of a core element and a subject theme. The core element includes modules in English for Academic Purposes (EAP), Learning Skills including Information & Communication Technologies (ICT) and Research Methodology including project planning.

    This is an instructional program that focus on the theory and practice of learning and teaching, and related research, administrative and support services.
