School Description
Mohawk College has a rich history dating back to 1966. After the decision was made that Hamilton would serve as the main campus for the college in September of 1966, the next task was to come up with a name. It was favored that an Aboriginal name be chosen to best represent the wider community. Apporval was given to the name 'Mohawk' in October of 1966, and by the mid-1970s Mohawk College had emerged as a leading college in engineering, applied arts and business, and health technology.
Mohawk College has over 16,000 full-time students, and 1,200 international students. Mohawk has many ways in which students can get involved. Some of these ways include a Volunteer program, Varsity Athletics, Intramural Sports, Co-Curricular Record (CCR), and Social Inc. which is a program that celebrates social inclusion.
