School Description

West Virginia University (WVU) was founded in 1867 as the Agricultural College of West Virginia. The college officially changed its name to West Virginia University the following year. The institution began with just six faculty members, six college students and 118 preparatory students, who were all male. The 1960s and 70s saw a lot of changes to the curriculum as well as student life. A new core curriculum was established in September 1964, and several new facilities were added to the campus during the 1970s, as well as more courses that focused on the environment, women's history, women and literature.

West Virginia University has over 28,000 students enrolled in its main campus. The WVU system has 518 buildings across the state, and 245 buildings in its main campus in Morgantown. WVU also operates 10 experimental farms and four forests throughout the state of West Virginia. WVU has over 460 student organisations with many organisations representing the diverse groups of students at WVU. Love WVU. My son is already considering attendance and he's only 14.

I graduated in '93 as a double major in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Since then I've worn many corporate hats and I'm now CEO at a start-up company. I couldn't have had the successful career I've had without WVU.
