          • Testimony
            2006-2008, Bachelors degree

I completed both my undergrad and graduate studies via the distance education at UVic. What surprised me was the sense of community I was able to develop with my classmates and the accessability of the professors. I remember a long telephone call with one of them as they lead me through the intricacies of a particularly challenging nursing theorist!

          • Testimony
            1981-1985, bachelors

My UVIC experience although long ago, was memorable not just for the education, but also for the personal development I enjoyed through clubs, sports, and social activities. My education in Sociology has worked well in my business. After travelling to 30+ countries my ability to gather social statistics, and apply social networking (a term that did not exist in 1985) to developing business has been a real asset. Besides my years of experience I can take the foundation of my success from those important classes where we learned how to understand groups of people, and how they behave to produce real success for my business' clients

          • Testimony
            1983-1986, MPA

I took the Masters in Public Administration Program on a part time basis while working full-time (in a totally unrelated field). Sure, for 2 1/2 years I spent my weekends writing term papers and studying, but I landed a job in the provincial Government even before I graduated - based on a suggestion from a fellow student and a recommendation from one of my professors. I had a varied and fascinating 17 year career - ranging from healthcare, Seniors' issues, to recreation and tourism, youth at risk, to the 2010 Olympic Bid, to strategic human resources - wouldn't have changed it for the world! The MPA at UVic made it all possible.
