University of Texas–Pan American has a statue called Bronc Statue, which acts as a campus landmark to attract visitors at the university. The campus also has a courtyard which was made to preserve the memory of a special pan American University baseball player who was tragically killed on Feb. 24, 1973.

University of Texas–Pan American is a public university that was established in 1927. In 2002, UTPA merged with University of Texas-Brownsville and a planned medical school to create a new organization called the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
