Doing well Professionally because of My Degree with UoPWhen I left the Navy in 2006 (joined in 1999) to care for my two children, both toddlers, I decided it was time to work towards my degree. I completed my associates and continued on to pursue my bachelors which I was still working towards when I re-entered the working world in 2010. This university along with the Navy, made possible for me, a girl who grew up in a poor working class family, what I never thought could be possible--to hold a college degree. I want to add I worked very hard to earn my degree, NO ONE handed it to me. People think online means you can just skate by but this is not so. At UoP you are required to maintain a certain GPA and you must put in the effort to do well. This means a lot of reading, use of the academic library, as well as finding legitimate resources to help you whether from the school or other sources such as tutor.com, your classroom peers, or my favorite, sites like yaymath.org. The point is, the accreditation is sound as is the education--do your research, don't just listen to the propaganda. On top of that, I was able to practically apply those things I was learning in the classroom within the first few weeks of working at my new job! I also want to add, people knock working in online teams, but in the real corporate world, collaboration is essential to many real-world projects--and the dynamic of team efforts are the same whether in a virtual or real-world environment. As an individual, learning to communicate well in an online environment can truly help you to be a better team player and leader. Truly many organizations suffer from lack of sound communication and team work. I appreciate those organizations that understand the effort working people put in when they work towards a degree, while working full time, and in some cases like my own, balancing work, life and family. I looked into UoP and chose them specifically because of the "flexibility" and also their accreditation and continual support. I hope that, across the nation, UoP will finally be recognized for the quality school it is, and those knocking it or saying things about the school, in ignorance, that their eyes will be opened to what this school has done for myself, a veteran, mother, and military spouse, and so many others! Stop confusing it with a former school known as Phoenix--they are NOT the same!!!! I am tired of the politics regarding for-profit schools and wish there was more support for hard working people trying to better their life. I do recommend this school and pray for those working towards their degree that UoP will be able to repair the damage that ignorance has done to their reputation. I also hope, those who are so concerned about for-profit schools will then start to provide monetary help to those who choose these schools, so no matter what accredited school a person chooses--they have the greatest opportunity to succeed. I am a Phoenix, no I could not attend Harvard, or Cambridge, perhaps they need to open up the opportunities to working people to attend-- online does not mean trailer trash. I worked damn hard during complex circumstances to get my degree--I would have done the same at Harvard. I am proud of myself and will continue to advance and excel because I know I can-- those people who overlook me because they decided that UoP degrees are no good without knowing better, are losing out on an EXCEPTIONAL candidate!

HARD BUT FLEXIBLE WORK...I started at UoPx becuase that's where the Army sent everyone while I was active duty. I called and was rollin' into classes within a couple of weeks. Once enrolled, I worked very hard for a lot of hours and invested myself into the program. Yes there are way to be lazy and get good grades, but to succeed and excel you must apply yourself and it is well worth it. I worked full time m-f in a new job within my field of study and I am very proud of what UoPx has done for me. My academic advisor in the beginning of my enrollment was a huge inspiration and really got me rollin' in the right direction. Thanks Erica O'Niel! Other then that, if you invest yourself and apply the skills that you're learning, you can become a huge success with the tools that UoPx offers you.
