I'm so thankful for the time I spent as an undergrad at UMW. I received a thoughtful education; I was inspired by the professors who took time to get to know me personally and relished the challenging coursework that helped create the foundation on which I've built my freelance writing career. I was able to take advantage of opportunities and even create opportunities because of the small size of the student body that would not have been possible at a larger, more "anonymous" college. I cannot sing MWC's praises enough (sorry, it will always be MWC to me!)--I look back on my time there with immense fondness and recommend it highly. I can only imagine it's gotten exponentially better in the years since I graduated, growing and adapting to today's technological expectations. I have never, ever second-guessed my decision to attend this wonderful school; indeed, that decision greatly shaped what I believed I could achieve and who I have become.

I really appreciated my time at MWC. The staff and student body were great. Professors will go out of the way to help you and push you to think critically about your work without giving you the answers. All across campus the scenery is amazing along with the architecture, the culture and people in general. While the curriculum is challenging and pushing your ability to study and think creatively, you will always remember what an amazing experience you had while attending this fine institution. Even at my commencement ceremony in 2004, Mark Warner gave an amazing speech about reaching your potential and to believe in yourself. "Take risks, and don't be afraid to fail." ~Gov. Warner "Commencement is exciting, he said, but a person's quality of life is determined by how he chooses to live in "ordinary times" of "Monday mornings and Tuesday afternoons and Wednesday nights." ~ Gov. Warner What an amazing day and a cap to an amazing completion of my studies at MWC. I will always be thankful to those I studied all night with, laughed with and cried with during graduation. Cheers to you and I wish only good things for each of you.

I love the "big happy family" atmosphere that the school has. Because our campus is relatively small, and has extremely small class sizes, people get to meet and know more people quickly than you would at a larger university. This allows for the students and faculty to get to know each other on a much more personal level and helps to give the school a great sense of community and school pride.
