University of Louisiana - Lafayette - Master's Degree
University of Louisiana was established as Southwestern Louisiana Industrial Institute in 1898. Classes however began in 1901 with an enrollment of 145 students. The University at that point just comprised of a few classrooms which dotted a patch of barren farmland and degree programs at the time included agriculture, stenography and mechanics.
Today, the University of Louisiana is the state’s second-largest public institution and among the nation’s leaders in areas such as computer science, environmental biology, and nursing. The University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s 1,500-acre campus of handsome red brick buildings is also home to more than 18,000 students.
