School Description

Troy University was founded as the Troy State Normal School in 1887. Its initial purpose was the training of teachers for schools in Alabama. The school changed its name to Troy State Teacher's College in 1929. After continued growth and the addition of new degrees, the institution became Troy State University in 1967, and in 2004, removed State from its name.

Troy University has over 18,000 students. The main campus is in Alabama, but the university has 7 more locations in the US. In addition, the university has an international presence with locations in countries that include Japan, South Korea, and partnerships with universities in Vietnam and Malaysia.
