School Description

Trinity College was founded as the Washington College in the year 1823, the only second college in Connecticut at the time. Student enrollment grew as the institute moved to its first campus a year after its opening, and in 1845 became what is now known as Trinity College. More than three decades later, it relocated to its present 100-acre Summit Street campus in Hartford, Connecticut. The turn of the century paved the way for Trinity College's further expansion in response to an industrialized America and to address common social and economic problems of the country. In 1960s, it began admitting women as undergraduates for the first time and enrollment increased to 1,800 and faculty to over 200.

Today its 100-acre campus boasts of a 315-seat theater, an on-campus unique film theater, 2 art galleries, 4 on-campus theater and dance studios, 4 eateries, 2 coffee shops, and 7 studio art facilities for painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, and printmaking for over 2,000 graduate and undergraduate students representing 44 states and 63 countries. Trinity College offers over 900 courses in 39 majors and 27 minors in the field of liberal arts and 4 graduate programs in American Studies, English, Public Policy, and Neuroscience.

An outstanding faculty who focus on teaching and developing Trinity students (rather than publication, as at many universities where "publish or perish" rules). Outstanding library (remember books?). Beautiful quad.

            1986-1990, BA

I loved the chance to form long lasting meaningful connections to my professors and participate in some amazing challenges, like living in the Soviet Union the year before it collapsed! I will always cherish the experiences and friends I made there.
