School Description

Temple University traces its roots back to the year 1984 when its founder, Russell H. Conwell, a well known minister in Philadelphia, agreed to tutor a young working man at night. This quickly turned from a one-on-one nightly study session into a group of several dozen students who are determined to gain knowledge despite their working schedules. Conwell later recruited volunteer faculty to his night school, and four years later received a charter for the Temple College, an institution built on the founding vision of providing high quality education to students regardless of their backgrounds or financial capabilities. The college flourished and, almost two decades later, was incorporated as the Temple University in 1907.

Today, Temple University continues to provide high quality education to its students through 17 schools and colleges across its 7 campus located in Philadelphia and two other located in Japan and Rome. It enrolls approximately 40,000 students combined almost half of which came from minority groups and 8.4% of which are international students. Temple University current offers over 140 bachelor's degree programs and over 140 master's degree programs.

The Temple Main Campus that exists now is the Campus we always wanted . . .

What I liked most about Temple was the academics. When I attended, it didn't feel like a "community." All of that has changed now. Now the campus has a "vibe" - it's something you can't put into words - something you just have to feel for yourself.

Excellent, relatively affordable education in a fantastic city

Temple has a range of excellent professors, classes and activities. The diversity of its student body and its proximity to Center City Philadelphia make it a fantastic choice for both in-state and out of state students. While there are some concerns about safety on and off campus, Temple has done an incredible job of changing their perception as a university that you'd be afraid to send your child to (especially in the last five years). I was an extremely happy student at Temple, and am glad that it's my Alma mater

Temple Football Vs Notre Dame Holiday Weekend

I Really hope all the alumni in the North East can come down and support the Football team. It has taken many years for this program to get to this point and the city of Philadelphia should stand behind them.
