            Creative Thought Really Does Matters

Where to begin. I cannot say that my four years at Skidmore were enjoyable but as soon as I graduated, the Skidmore connection and the Skidmore experience influenced my life in profound ways and this continues. My 2 best friends are Skiddies, my daughter is a Skiddie and her best friends are also. The name opened doors which lead me to a great job that I held for over 35 years. Today, the adventures and encouragement to dream big, try new things and see connections where others think none exist are all fundamentals of my life and I thank Skidmore for giving me that foundation.

Great faculty, open friendly student body, & beautify campus & town

I had a great experience at Skidmore. The positive, engagement, and inspiring faculty really opened my mind to the world and what was possible. I made some amazing life long friends and grew into an adult. Some of my favorite stories from Skidmore: I was a psych major and math minor. Psych is a big major at Skidmore, but math/cs is a small dept. My sophomore year I took "Bridge to Higher Mathematics" with Dan Hurwitz ( I had taken Calculus with Prof Hurwitz the previous year. I was sitting alone in the room on the first day of class and Pro Hurwitz walked in. He said, "Micah, 3 people signed up for this class and the other two dropped, so it's just you and me." In most college they would have simply canceled the class, but Prof Hurwitz met with me for an hour each week in the library for a private cambridge style seminar. There was no lecture, just a book, homework, and discussion. It was one of the most intense and valuable learning experiences I've had in my life. Personally I had a wonderful time meeting great people, hanging out in the beautiful city of Saratoga, and hiking with friends in the mountains and rivers of upstate new york. It was amazing growing and learning time in my life.
