Purdue University, located in West Lafayette, Indiana, is a vast university system consisting of six campuses. The University is known for its programs in math, science, engineering, technology and pharmacy; it offers more than 200 undergraduate and over 70 postgraduate courses.

School Description

Purdue University was established in 1869 under the newly created Morrill Act. The University is named after John Purdue, a local businessman who donated the land and money to create this University. The University commenced in 1874 with then only 6 teachers and 40 students.

Today, the University has well over 38000 students and more than 3000 academic staff. The school is famous for being a place for imagination, innovation and ingenuity. Its alumni include well-known individuals such as Neil Armstrong and Gus Grissom, both astronauts; Edward Mills Purcell and Ben Roy Mottelson, who both received Nobel Prizes in Physics and Akira Suzuki, another Nobel Prize winner, in chemistry.
