School Description

Established by the Sisters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul in 1873, the Mount was one of the few institutions of higher education for women in Canada at a time when women could not vote. The original purpose of the academy was to train novices and young sisters as teachers, but the Sisters also recognized a need to educate other young women.

            Love the Tight-Knit Community of the MountYThe Mount is, in my opinion, the best university to attend for those who prefer to be in a small, tight-knit community. I can definitely say that I am a proud Mount Mystic because of this, and that I have discovered a lot about what that means to me, to allow myself to be different and make a difference in the lives of others.
