School Description

Mount St. Mary's University is founded in 1925 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. Originally located at the St. Mary’s Academy in Slauson and Crenshaw Boulevards, the institution moved to its current site in the Chalon Campus two years later, and then opened the Doheny Campus in 1962.

Today, Mount St. Mary's University's two campuses in Chalon and Doheny are home to over 3,500 students currently enrolled in over 30 baccalaureate majors and concentrations, as well as 8 master's degree in academic areas ranging from arts, humanities, nursing, business, and religious studies, among many others. There are 4 residence halls at the Chalon campus for undergraduate students, and 5 residence halls at the Doheny campus for graduate students. Though Mount St. Mary's University is not co-educational, there are still plenty of opportunities for students to maximize their college experience, and studies show that graduates of women colleges have a higher degree of satisfaction with their experience, end up with higher self-confidence, and achieve more.

The feeling that you can do anything!

I was seeking, and I found what I needed. Every class was fulfilling, and the Professors engaging. I highly recommend this experience, The Mount St Mary's University experience, to everyone wishing to continue, or complete their education. A true blessing!

        Amazing education

I think I always knew but never fully realized how valuable my education at Mount St. Mary's was until I started working in higher education. I'm grateful that they not only taught me well in my courses, but taught me how to be a critical thinker.
