It was not until the year 1950 that the trustees adopted the Mitchell family name to honor the college's principal benefactors since its founding. Six years later, Mitchell College was awarded membership in the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. By 1998, it offered its first baccalaureate program and in 2006 its first distinctive postgraduate programs.
Today, Mitchell College's 68-acre, waterfront campus located in New London, historically known as 'The Whaling City', houses 13 academic buildings, 4 residence halls, and 2 apartments and is also the home to NCAA Division III athletic championship and the Bentsen Learning Center. Today, Mitchell College offers 15 bachelor degree, 3 associate degree, 3 certificate, and minor programs in 16 academic areas to qualified students.

Best two year College
Mitchell College was the best transition to a four year university. The faculty guided me through the right path to continue my education at Bentley University where I finished my schooling.
