School Description
Missouri University of Science in Technology opened its doors in 1870 as the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy (MSM), the first technological institution in Missouri and one of the country's first. It was established to address the demand of a developing nation for a scientific and practical education. The institution experienced continuous growth in its first 50 years by expanding its curricula, constructing new buildings, and strengthening its technological infrastructure as part of it transition from a 'school' to a 'university'. After a few name changes, it ultimately became the Missouri University of Science and Technology in 2008.
Today the Missouri University of Science and Technology continues to be among the country's top technological research universities. MUST has almost 9,000 students enrolled representing all 50 states and over 60 countries. Missouri University of Science and Technology is equipped to give students the full 'college experience' in its 10 student residences, 17 academic buildings and halls, 6 research and support facilities, and seven campus landmarks.
