School Description

Missouri State University (MSU) was founded in 1905 as the Fourth District Normal School, with the purpose of preparing teachers for the public school system in southwest Missouri. In 1919, the institution changed its name to Southwest Missouri State Teachers College. Continued growth and the expansion of the academic curriculum to include liberal arts and sciences, required another name change in 1945 to Southwest Missouri State College. Enrollment increased over the years, surpassing 20,000 in 1990, and in 2005, the institution finally became Missouri State University.

Missouri State University is the second largest university in the state of Missouri in terms of student enrollment, with over 24,000 students. MSU is also welcoming to international students, with 1,500 international students representing 85 different countries. The Office of Student Engagement provides students with plenty of opportunities to be active in the university. Other than the numerous student organisations, fraternities, and sororities, the Student Activities Council (SAC) helps organise social, cultural, and diverse events for all MSU students.

This is a memorable place !Missouri state University is a school which she has a rigorous style of study and caring students. In particular, I want to recommend it to international students: Missouri State would be your best choice for study in United States. You should come here to share some regional culture senses. The First Baptist Church, Martin Luther King Bridge,YMCA and Discover Center hands in hands they seem to tell you about story in the town of Springfield — It also shows the American's stories in religion, history, family (as center) and technology. Both My wife ( she graduated in 2010, E-MBA) and I studied here, and our two kids grew here. This is a memorable place to my family. It would be yours!

Beautiful Area of the U.S. / Valuable EducationAs a transfer student, SMS / Missouri State University's location near Table Rock Lake and The Ozarks made it one of the best large schools to attend in my opinion. I received a great education in mass media, and Dr. Biggs in particular stood out among some real top-notch educators. In addition, I took advantage of work / intern opportunities at Bass Pro Shops and local media outlets. Get out to one of the surrounding lakes on the weekends and enjoy your classes too!
