Millikin University was founded in 1901 by James Millikin with the aim to teach the literary and classical aspects of education along with its practical side. The University, although affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, is not narrowly 'sectarian' and remains open to all. It is one of the region’s first small, comprehensive universities. The university has been accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), a Commission of the North Central Association, since 1914. Along with the HLC accreditation Millikin also holds degree specific accreditations. The School of Music in the College of Fine Arts is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music; The Athletic Training Education program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE); the School of Education, in the College of Professional Studies, is accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education; the baccalaureate and master’s degree in nursing are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education; the Tablor School of Business is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools & Programs (ACBSP). High Quality Education Well Worth the Investment
The Tabor School of Business has provided me with a high quality education along with project based assignments that are relevant to the real world. The professors are very knowledgable in their fields and have always been available for any questions or concerns I may have. They will go an extra mile to make sure I am successful with my studies and any projects I have going on outside of the university. The PACE program is sensitive and catering to the fact that I am a single working mother. The way my classes are set up at night just two days a week I've been able to manage life, family, work and school more efficiently. Just four more classes to go and I will have my Bachelors Degree in Business Management graduating in December, class of 2014.
1972-1974, Fine Arts - Printmaking, Sculpture
A fine place for fine arts
Located on a beautiful campus in a modestly sized mid-west town Millikin University offers a studio experience to art students that is competitive with much larger schools. The excellence of the supporting classes makes Millikin ideal for ambitious arts majors.
1970-1974, Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)
A Fantastic Liberal Arts University
Millikin University definitely prepared me for the challenges (expected and unexpected) of graduate school followed by my professional career in both the academic and industrial sectors.
