School Description

Started as Armour institute, in 1890 when Philip Danforth Armour, Sr. donated $1 million. The institute offered professional courses in engineering, chemistry, architecture and library science. It became Illinois Tech with merger with Lewis Institute in 1940. further mergers, expansions and developments took place to finally shape IIT into what it is today. IIT has produced some remarkable students such as: Xavier Vilalta (Sustainable Architecture Designer), Dan McCormack (Head of Photography at Marist College) and others.
