            1995-1993, Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)

Goldsmiths was without doubt a huge influence on my creative and professional development. The course, the reading list and the incredible lecturers (Dr Sarat Maharaj) provided endless inspiration that stays with me today. Love of popular culture ran in tandem with the traditional masters. I remember the joy felt at 19 on first discovering the parallels between Star Wars and The Wizard of Oz (Linda Hutcheon's A Theory of Parody) and being actively encouraged to develop my fledgling dissertation on punk rock into an academic paper. The Goldsmiths culture nurtured and developed originality whilst developing technical and academic strength: they pushed us, but it was worth it. A 20 year career in PR and events in the creative industries followed - and the way that Goldsmiths set my brain ensured that along the way, I questioned everything, created opportunities and was able to apply both creative and critical thinking when faced with any challenging commercial brief
