Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University’s mascot ‘the Rattler’, is based on popular folklore. In 1891, the school moved to Highwood Plantation and the land around it was filled with rattle snakes and that’s how the name came to be.

"The Best University ever"
Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University offered the best real life experiences an individual could have experienced. This great institution of higher education developed and equipped me into the woman I am today. I am so very THANKFUL that my father made it perfectly clear where his money was going to be spent.
