The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, is among the nation's oldest and most distinguished institutions of higher education. The school founder, Peter Cooper was a strong advocate for Native American rights, as well as women's rights, and opened the doors of his institute to Susan B Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton.
