School Description
Air force Institute of Technology (AFIT) was founded on 10 November 1919 by Colonel Thurman Bane. Within the span of 97 years AFIT has awarded 20,000 degrees and produced over 400,000 graduates. AFIT serves a graduate school of engineering and management, as well as an institution for technical professional continuing education, for the Air Force. AFIT forms a component of the Air University and aims to offer a defense-centric graduate and professional continuing education, along with research in order to maintain the technological authority of America’s air and space forces.
AFIT is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission on a regional level. Along with the regional accreditation AFIT is also granted accreditation from the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET for many of its master’s programs.
