South Puget Sound Community College was established in the year 1962 and it then the school was known as Olympia Vocational Technical Institute(OVTI). In 1967 the school was renamed to the Olympia Technical Community College. The college introduced its first Associate of Arts degree programme in its course offerings in the year 1982. In the following years in 1984, the school's name was changed to South Puget Sound Community College.
Today, South Puget Sound Community College campus spans across 125 across which accommodates over 6,000 students in Olympia. SPSCC's large student community makes it one of the largest institute of higher education in Thurston county. South Puget Sound Community College's inclusive campus has a student to faculty ratio of 22:1 which ensures that faculty members can provide personalized attention to all students. SPSCC has a wide range of athletic teams, clubs and organizations that suit every student's hobby and interest.
