School Description

Pima Community College was founded following the result of a vote in Pima county in the favor of creating a community college district in 1966. The school was then established as Pima College and it first classes were held in 1969 at a temporary campus in an airplane hangar at the Tucson airport, Tucson Medical Center, Villa Maria, and Marana. The school's name was eventually changed to Pima Community College in 1972 to better reflect the mission of the College.

Today, Pima Community College (PCC) serves greater Tucson metropolitan area through campuses located across six locations namely: Community campus, Desert Vista campus, Downtown campus, East campus, Northwest campus and West campus. PCC is an open-admissions institution providing affordable, comprehensive educational opportunities that support success and meet the diverse needs of its students and community.
