Nova Scotia College of Early Childhood Education was established in the year 1970 as Saint Joseph's Children's center which started the first Atlantic Canadian Program in Early Childhood Education. The college's initially offered three-months course was developed into an 8-month diploma programme, and in the year 2000, it evolved as a full-fledged two-year programme. In the year 2008, the college changed its name from Saint Joseph's College of Early Childhood Education to Nova Scotia College of Early Childhood Education.
Nova Scotia College of Early Childhood Education boasts a rich history of enriching international students with top quality education in early childhood. Students at NSCECE learn from real-time observation and get practicum opportunities at the three lab schools that operate as the college's demonstration child care sites. NSCECE campus premise has a dedicated Early Years Community Development Centre which offers students a variety of materials to support them in their program assignments, and practicum. NSCECE's Community development center is also equipped with a workroom with resources like a circuit machine and binding machine that students can use as a teaching resource.
