School Description

Northampton Community College was established in 1967 by community leaders to provide quality education for the local workforce and provide affordable residents with an affordable college in the state. Northampton Community College opened its doors to over 800 students on October 2, 1967. The following year, enrollment had grown to 1400. In 1970, Northampton Community College earned accreditation from the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. NCC became the first community college in Pennsylvania to offer students accommodation with the construction affordable apartments and a resident hall. 

Today, Northampton Community College became one of 150 community colleges, out of more than 1400 nationwide, nominated for the Aspen Prize. NCC serves more than 35,000 students a year and also providing education that they need in order to enter the workforce or to continue their studies. Over 100 certificates and diploma programs.
