Georgian College

Georgian College is a publicly funded school of Applied Arts and Technology based in Barrie city of Ontario province, Canada. Georgian College offers over 125 diplomas, degrees, and graduate certificates in various different areas of study through its seven campuses in Ontario region. Georgian College is the only college in Ontario with programmes licensed by the Canadian Association for Co-Operative Education.

School Description

Georgian College was founded in the year 1967 as Ontario's first co-operative educational institute. Georgian College opened four branch campuses between 1969 and 1988 listed as Orillia campus in 1969, Muskoka campus in 1977, South Georgian Bay campus in 1985 and Orangeville campus in 1988. Georgian College is the only school in Ontario with 12 programmes accredited by the Canadian Association for Co-Operative Education.

Today Georgian College celebrates its 50 years anniversary for serving Ontario province as the #1 co-op college and a recognized leader in student work experience. Georgian College makes this possible through strong synergy with about 6,200 employers who provided experiential learning opportunities to over 4,000 students from Georgian College last year. Apart from business partnerships Georgian also forms academic partnerships with other institutes; the college’s partnership with the Continental Institute for International Studies (CIIS) allows Indian students an opportunity to transfer to Georgian after studying for one year at CIIS. Georgian College is home to over 11,000 full-time students of which about 1,500 students come from 60 countries across the globe. Georgian College's seven campuses namely Barrie, Midland, Muskoka, Orangeville, Orillia, Owen Sound and South Georgian Bay offer both on campus and off campus housing facility to its students.

    A general program that focuses on the design and provision of teaching and other educational services to children or adults with special learning needs or disabilities, and that may prepare individuals to function as special education teachers. Includes instruction in diagnosing learning disabilities, developing individual education plans, teaching and supervising special education students, special education counseling, and applicable laws and policies.
