Foothill College is a community college located in the rolling hills of Los Altos Hills, California, United States. Foothill College offers 79 Associate Degree Programs and over 100 Specialty Certificate Programs, some of which are; Accounting, Biology, Chemistry, Theatre Arts and many more. The College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC), Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

School Description

Foothill College was founded in 1957 by a group of local school superintendents and appointed Calvin Flint as its first President. Different names were considered before and later named Foothill Junior College but the "Junior" was dropped in September 1958. Foothill College had its first classes on September 15, 1958, and was accredited the following year. In 2003, a project to renovate began to accommodate more students.

Today, Foothill College has a total of 795 Faculty and Staff, 32 Administrators serving over 14,000 students. In 2015, it was named one of California's Best Community Colleges. Foothill College has a comprehensive intercollegiate athletics programs and many cultural and community events for International Students. Foothill College is also a rich community resource offering many programs and facilities including Olympic Size Swimming Pool, Football Stadium and other Arts and Theaters facilities

    A program that focuses on the systematic study of human beings, their antecedents and related primates, and their cultural behavior and institutions, in comparative perspective. Includes instruction in biological/physical anthropology, primatology, human paleontology and prehistoric archeology, hominid evolution, anthropological linguistics, ethnography, ethnology, ethnohistory, socio-cultural anthropology, psychological anthropology, research methods, and applications to areas such as medicine, forensic pathology, museum studies, and international affairs.

    A program that focuses on the study of the historical development of art as social and intellectual phenomenon, the analysis of works of art, and art conservation. Includes instruction in the theory of art, art history research methods, connoisseurship, the preservation and conservation of works of art, and the study of specific periods, cultures, styles, and themes.

    The Art program offers an Associate in Arts degree and a Certificate of Achievement and directs students that aspire to concentrate in foundation level studio arts and art history courses, ceramics, illustration, industrial design, drawing, painting or print arts. This guided program assists students in developing specialized artistic proficiency necessary to create strong exit portfolios that may be used to apply or transfer to art schools, art academies or art universities.

    A program that focuses on the design and provision of teaching and other educational services to infant and pre-school age children with special learning needs or disabilities, and that prepares individuals to teach such students. Includes instruction in diagnosing learning disabilities, developing individual education plans, teaching and supervising special education students, special education counseling, and applicable laws and policies.
