School Description

Falathead Valley Community College's opening was initiated in the year 1960 by Owen Sowerwine, chairman of the local school board, who raised concerns about the need for a higher-education institute to educate the youth in the valley. Eventually in the year 1967, with the support of the valley's citizens, the ballot election passed by more than 1,000 votes, Flathead Valley Community College was established.

Flathead Valley Community College has grown since its inception with two campuses located in Kalispell and Libby serving more than 100,000 students. Flathead Valley Community College offers over 50 high quality career and technical programs that prepare students to enter into today’s workforce.
