School Description

East Los Angeles College was established in 1947 as part of the Los Angeles Community College District to offer both academics transfer programs, which would prepare students admission to four-year colleges and universities. East Los Angeles College has a location suitable for recreational activities in the desert, at the beach, the mountains, and numerous amusement parks and exciting attractions that Southern California is well known.

Today, East Los Angeles College is the largest campus in its district, serving more than 30,000 students. Popularly known as ELAC, the college has a rich international and multicultural student body that complements the 14 communities in its service area. Each year, East Los Angeles College helps more than 1000 students transfer to the University of California and California State University. The Institution reports that 47percent of its students are focused on transferring to a 4-year school and a large number of students are career prepared.
