School Description

City College of New York was originally established as the Free Academy of the city of New York in 1847 by wealthy businessman and president of the Board of Education. In 1866 the school was renamed to the College of the City of New York. City College of New York became a co-educational institute in the year 1951.

Today, CCNY is known as one of the oldest of City University of New York's 24 institutions of higher learning. City College of New York campus spans across 35 acre land in the vibrant neighborhood of Harlem in New York city. City College of New York's four academic departments offer bachelor's degree in Science, Education, Engineering, Fine Arts, Business and Architecture. CCNY hosts over 200 student-run clubs, organizations and associations to accommodate interests of every on-campus student.
