Christian Brothers University

School Description

Christian Brothers University (CBU) was originally founded as Christian Brothers College in 1871 by the De La Salle Christian Brothers – a Catholic teaching order. In 1953, the decision was made to expand the junior college into a four-year institution. Christian Brothers College officially became Christian Brothers University in June of 1990.

Today CBU serves a student population of more than 1800 students. Although a Catholic university, CBU is an inclusive university with 34 different faiths represented in its student body. The University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award the bachelor’s and master’s degree.
