Established in 1878, Burlington Collegiate Institute and Commercial College was the Champlain College's first embodiment. It was founded by G.W. Thompson with the aim to train the youth of Burlington in the ""business cares and responsibilities of life."" Throughout the years, the institution flourished despite having survived a destructive fire in 1911 and after many name changes, it finally became Champlain College in 1958.
Today, Champlain College's leading academic programs and stunning location attracts approximately 2,200 traditional students from 46 states and 17 countries across the world enrolled in over 60 bachelor's and 2 master's degree programs offered in areas of business, communication and creative media, education and human studies, information technology and sciences.
