Over the span of four or five years, students can choose 40 classes. These classes may focus on the consequences of hard decisions and then suggest alternatives and related costs. Students often develop the ability to formulate strong, logical arguments and examine rational topics from multiple viewpoints. Since critical thought is essential to this program of study, many students use this degree as a stepping stone into law school, public service, or politics.
