Biology (Capital University)
Capital University’s 62-credit BA in biology program provides students with a core foundation in biological science in preparation for graduate studies or immediate employment in a variety of science-based industries. The four-year biology curriculum aims to give undergraduates a well-rounded overview of the physical, environmental and biological sciences with an emphasis on understanding and participating in the collection and presentation of scientific research.
The biology program also offers internationally based field courses and active engagement in professor-led research in one of four major areas of concentration: general biology, zoology, ecology, or molecular biology. The program is designed to be flexible to accommodate the individual needs and interests of students while providing essential skills in critical thinking and scientific analysis.
Students will have first-hand research experience in state-of-the-art lab facilities for anatomy, botany, and molecular biology. With undergraduate opportunities to research topics ranging from genetics and molecular science to ecology and microbiology, participants in the program will have enriching educational experiences, both in the field and in the laboratory, in order to better prepare them for a future in the industry, government, or academia.
