Cameron University

School Description

Cameron University was founded in 1908 and named after Rev. E. D. Cameron, a Baptist minister and Oklahoma's first State Superintendent of Schools, a year after Oklahoma became a state. What was initially only a junior college was later known as the "University of Choice" serving a diverse student body. Cameron University was known for offering more than 50 degrees through two-year, four-year and graduate programs. Cameron is acknowledged to be the only public university in Oklahoma that offers bachelor's, master's and associate degree programs at one site.

Determined to offer the best quality experience to students through qualified caring faculty and small sized classes, CU ensures substantial learning and student success. Cameron University offers early admission, advanced standing, a study abroad program, honors program and college-level examination programs. Univerisity labs across campus offer free tutoring to assist students in achieving academic progress. CU also offers multiple clubs such as biology club, jazz club, history club and athletics clubs such as golf club, basketball club, spirit team, etc., so that students can engage in a wide choice of organisations while on campus. In the academic year of 2010-11, Cameron University received a 10-year unconditional accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission.
