California State University - Monterey Bay
California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB) was founded in 1994 on the former Fort Ord Army Base by local educators and community leaders. On Sept 4, 1995, President Bill Clinton helped to inaugurate the campus as the twenty-first campus in the Cal State University system.
Today California State University, Monterey Bay is building on the legacy it was founded on by exploring innovative ways to meet the needs of a new generation of students while simultaneously powering the Monterey County economy. California State University Monterey Bay has a campus that is ‘just the right size’ allowing its faculty to get to know their students on an individual basis. About half of all students live on campus, making it one of the most residential universities in the California State University (CSU).
