Program Description

The Department of Marketing at the California State University, Long Beach, provides a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses for students who are interested in marketing. From traditional areas, such as advertising or research, to recent developments like digital marketing, the school allows students to take several approaches on their journeys to careers.

Typically, a business administration degree with a focus on marketing requires 120 credit units at minimum. Students often spend about four years completing the required courses. Classes begin with lower-division courses, such as managerial accounting and calculus for business, before moving on to upper-division courses like management information systems and organizational behavior. Critical thinking courses and a Capstone course are also required for the degree.

The marketing option does have a specialized list of courses as well. Students will learn about green marketing and sustainability, professional selling, advertising and promotion, and a range of other areas in order to prepare for careers in both domestic and international markets.
