Health Science (California State University - Long Beach)
The health science department at California State University, Long Beach offers several options for undergraduate students. In addition to a minor, the department offers majors in school health and community health education. Both of these majors lead to a bachelor’s degree that can be completed in four years. The coursework for the major accounts for approximately two years of this time.
The community health education track requires 64 to 66 credits, depending on whether students choose laboratory classes or lectures. The school health education track requires 58 to 60 credits, though it is important to note that it is not necessarily less work than the latter option - it just requires fewer courses within the major, not fewer credit hours for the degree itself.
Any student interested in learning about health and wellness will benefit from enrolling in the CSULB health science program. Whether you are interested in working in a school or your community, the department’s degree programs offer the courses you need.
