Finance (California State University - Long Beach)
The College of Business Administration at California State University, Long Beach, offers a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration that allows students to specialize in an area of finance. Regardless of the specialization, students must complete a minimum of 120 credit hours (about four years) of courses that include lower-division ones, such as principles of macroeconomics and introduction to business statistics, as well as upper-division courses, such as business communications and principles of management. At least one critical thinking course is also required.
The university's Department of Finance is where students can find a specialty that meets their career goals. Finance majors learn about financial planning for businesses, how to cut costs, and organization and management techniques, among many other skills. Auditing and accounting are also part of the program. Courses cover financial management, investments, and money and capital markets, including personal and international finance. Graduates go on to work in a variety of industries, including big banking, mutual funds, insurance, security analysis, and many more.
