Engineering Technology (California State University - Long Beach)
The California State University, Long Beach engineering technology program was designed for individuals who have a strong understanding of science, mathematics and engineering and who wish to pursue a position in information technology. The duration of the program varies, depending on the degree a person wishes to obtain and what level of education he or she has before beginning the program.
Courses in the program may focus on the design, development and research of computer hardware. Students may also learn how to test and install computer hardware as well as how to oversee the manufacturing of it. Hardware includes memory devices, circuit boards, computer chips, memory devices, computer systems and routers. Typically, the advancements in today's computer technology are in large part thanks to the development, design and research efforts of graduates of engineering technology programs.
Program courses may emphasize both book learning as well as hands-on education. A good portion of a student's education may take place in a research lab and by working on various computer models.
