Chemical Engineering (California State University - Long Beach)
The chemical engineering program at California State University, Long Beach is a four- to six-year program, depending on a student's level of education upon entering the program. The length of the program also depends on whether a participant wants to earn a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree.
The program itself strives to create chemical engineers who know how to responsibly convert raw materials into useful products. "Useful products" include everything from cosmetics to microelectronic chips, and from plastics to energy. Because the chemical engineering field is so vast, students have the opportunity to tailor their education to their particular career goals. Coursework may or may not focus on the development of skills and understanding in the areas of electrical engineering, civil and chemical engineering, computer engineering and mechanical engineering. Students will sit in for lectures, partake in discussions and participate in labs to demonstrate their breadth of knowledge on their chosen specialty.
