Buena Vista University
Buena Vista University was established in 1891, as Buena Vista College, by the Presbyterian Church. The college was granted accreditation in 1952, and the graduate program was accredited in 1995. That same year, the college transitioned into a university, and became Buena Vista University. The campus has made major growth throughout the years. During the 1950's, the campus began construction on three residence halls, a library, an auditorium and a classroom administration building among others.
Buena Vista University today has nearly 1000 full time students enrolled on campus. Students at BVU have over 60 student organizations that range in interest from Fuego Latin dance group, Student Senate, Kenpo Karate club, and the Outdoor Adventure Club. In addition, the Student Activities Board (SAB) organizes social and recreational activities to help connect the students.
